Amarr doors turn up often on newer West Michigan subdivisions, and their pinch-resistant section design is worth understanding before anyone starts swapping parts.
Amarr builds many of its residential doors with a pinch-resistant joint between sections, designed so fingers cannot be trapped as the door folds. It is a sensible piece of design and it works.
What it means practically is that the hinge and joint geometry is specific to the door. Fitting generic hinges to a pinch-resistant section can defeat the feature and, more immediately, can make the sections bind as they travel round the curve of the track. If someone has previously repaired the door with whatever hinges were on the van, that is often the reason it has started running roughly.
Beyond the section design, Amarr doors wear the way every door here wears. Bottom brackets and cables corrode first because they sit where salty meltwater collects. Rollers seize. Springs reach their cycle count. Bottom seals harden and start letting the door freeze down.
Amarr's insulated ranges are a good match for an attached garage, and as with any insulated door the insulation does nothing for the hardware, which still needs an annual look.
Springs need rating to the actual door weight, and an insulated Amarr section is heavier than a bare steel one of the same size. A spring chosen for a generic door of that width will be wrong, and the symptom is a door that will not stay put at waist height. That is the test to ask for after any spring work, on any brand.

A common cause is generic hinges fitted to pinch-resistant sections. The geometry is different and the sections can bind travelling round the track curve.
Ask for the balance test. Disconnect the opener, lift the door to waist height and let go. Correctly rated springs hold it roughly in place. If it drops or rises, the spring is wrong for the door's weight.
